  • A lot of people are asking me how I plan on spending my time while on the road on sabbatical. To be honest I am still figuring it out. When we are not exploring there will definitely be a lot of downtime and I feel I need to make the most out of it. But I also feel I don’t have to have the answer right now, this is what sabbaticals are all about, right? Figuring life out as one goes along, because now I have the time to sit and think and experiment and discover new things I might like and might not like to do. Our first stop on our trip is the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, we will be in the park for a full month and during this time we’ll be completely offline. I hope the social media time-out will remove the clutter in my mind and make room for new ideas and new goals.   • It’s official! @jubasjourney and I have started our sabbatical! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was a weird couple of days, the emotions I felt on my last day of work and as we left our house was totally unexpected. I always imagined my last day to be filled with excitement and relief but instead I was overcome with sadness and a sense of grief. Closing a chapter in my life and moving on to the next felt unreal and totally overwhelming. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We are now in a phase of our lives that is totally unknown and new to us. It’s the first time we do not have to report to someone or some institution. It honestly feels weird but it feels good to be free!   • To me this is a perfect picture - I got my healthy husband sitting next to a beautiful campfire with another stunning Kalahari sunset as the backdrop. It’s bittersweet to know that very soon we will leave this magnificent piece of earth, but it’s all for an exciting adventure. In 2019 my husband and I will embark on an epic overland trip through Africa. We’ll pack up everything we own, put it in storage and basically move into our trusty Land Rover Defender @mkulu_the_landy. Talk about scaling down!
